Wyoming Assistant State Veterinarian Walter Cook has taken a new job with the University of Wyoming, creating a vacancy that the Wyoming Livestock Board is seeking to fill.

Cook resigned from the Wyoming Livestock Board at the end of April to work at UW and the Consortium for the Advancement of Brucellosis Science.

State Veterinarian Jim Logan says he hopes to have the assistant position filed by the end of July.

The state veterinarian's office oversees Wyoming's disease-prevention efforts for livestock.

Cook and Logan switched positions last summer after Cook had been state vet for 2 1/2 years. In addition to his current term, Logan previously served as state vet for six years and in private practice.
