Amarillo Livestock Auction Summary, Amarillo, TX - 4/16/2012 

Cattle and Calves: 678     Week Ago: 468    Year Ago: 752

   Compared to last week: A very light test of feeder steers and heifers; no 
comparable sales for an adequate market trend.  The bulk of the feeder 
offering included steers and heifers weighing over 750 lbs. Slaughter cows 
sold 2.00-3.00 higher on a light test; a higher undertone noted on slaughter 
bulls.  Slaughter cows consisted of 9 percent of the offering, slaughter 
bulls less than 1 percent, replacement cows 15 percent and 75 percent 
feeders.  Feeder supply included 38 percent steers and bulls, 62 percent 
feeder heifers.  Approximately 79 percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.

   Steers: Medium and Large 1 few 279 lbs 230.50; few 368 lbs 205.00; few 
750-800 lbs 144.00-146.00.
   Medium and Large 1-2 few 634 lbs 150.50; load 865 lbs 138.25.  
   Medium and Large 2-3 few 528 lbs 148.00.   

   Heifers: Medium and Large 1 few 286 lbs 191.00; few 320 lbs 183.00; 625-
675 lbs 142.00-149.00; 715-725 lbs 141.00-141.50; load 844 lbs 127.75.
   Medium and Large 1-2 few 506 lbs 141.00; few 622 lbs 134.00; 750-775 lbs 
131.00-138.75.
   Medium and Large 2-3 few 706 lbs 121.00; few 805 lbs 110.00.
