Idaho Cattle on Feed down 4 percent

Cattle and calves on feed for the slaughter market in Idaho from feedlots with a capacity of 1,000 or more head on April 1, 2013 totaled 215,000 head, down 4 percent from the previous year, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service.

The cattle on feed inventory is down 4 percent from March 1, 2013. Placements of cattle in feedlots with a capacity of 1,000 or more head during March totaled 26,000 head, down 8,000 head from March 2012 placements.

Marketings of cattle from feedlots with 1,000 head or more during March totaled 35,000 head, down 3,000 head from last year. Other disappearance totaled 1,000 head during March.
