Idaho Cattle on Feed up 10 percent

Cattle and calves on feed for the slaughter market in Idaho from feedlots with a capacity of 1,000 or more head on June 1, 2011 totaled 230,000 head, up 10 percent from the previous year, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service.

The cattle on feed inventory is unchanged from May 1, 2011. Placements of cattle in feedlots with a capacity of 1,000 or more head during May totaled 36,000 head, up 4,000 head from May 2010 placements. Marketings of cattle from feedlots with 1,000 head or more during May totaled 35,000 head, up 4,000 head from a year ago. Other disappearance totaled 1,000 head during May.
