Weekly beef export sales triple

U.S. beef exports increased by 203 percent last week, up 14,859 metric tons over the previous week. Sales finished the week totaling 22,161 MT, ending five consecutive weeks of losses and moving above the 27-week average. The bump in export sales improved the four-week average. Increased export sales were reported for Japan (10,900 MT), Vietnam (2,600 MT), Mexico (2,300 MT), Canada (2,100 MT), and South Korea (1,300 MT).

Export shipments receded by one percent last week, down 128 metric tons to 15,931 MT. Shipments declined for the second consecutive week, but remain above the 27-week average by a mere 37 metric tons.  Export shipments were primarily to Mexico, receiving 3,300 MT, followed by South Korea (2,400 MT) and Canada (2,300 MT). Vietnam and Japan received 2,000 MT and 1,700 MT respectively.
