US Beef Exports: Sales Dip At The End Of The Year

Overall, exports had a pretty good week. Sales for this year were the lowest in 27 weeks, however there was 8,052 mt sold for next year.

Pretty Good Week For Beef Exports

Net sales of 5,800 MT were primarily for Mexico (2,500 MT), Japan (1,100 MT), Taiwan (500 MT), and South Korea (500 MT). Net sales of 6,300 MT for delivery in 2010 were mainly for Mexico (3,600 MT), Japan (900 MT), Taiwan (600 MT), and Vietnam (500 MT). Exports of 10,200 MT were mainly to Mexico (3,800 MT), South Korea (1,600 MT), Vietnam (1,200 MT), and Canada (1,200 MT).

Beef Exports: Sales To Mexico, Canada & Vietnam

Net sales of 6,300 MT for delivery in 2010 were primarily for Mexico (2,700 MT), Canada (1,100 MT), Vietnam (700 MT), Taiwan (500 MT), and Japan (400 MT). Exports of 8,100 MT were primarily for Mexico (2,800 MT), South Korea (1,500 MT), Vietnam (1,100 MT), Japan (800 MT), and Canada (600 MT).

Much Better Week For Beef Exports

Net sales of 9,800 MT for delivery in 2010 were primarily for Mexico (2,100 MT), Hong Kong (1,700 MT), South Korea (1,400 MT), Japan (1,200 MT), and Vietnam (1,200 MT). Exports of 10,200 MT were primary to Mexico (3,400 MT), Canada (1,400 MT), Vietnam (1,200 MT), South Korea (1,000 MT), and Japan (1,000 MT).

Beef Exports: Highest Sales In 10 Weeks

Net sales of 13,700 MT for delivery in 2010 were primarily for Mexico (3,900 MT), Vietnam (3,600 MT), South Korea (2,600 MT), Canada (1,400 MT), and Taiwan (1,100 MT). Exports of 9,800 MT were primarily to Mexico (3,000 MT), South Korea (1,400 MT), Canada (1,400 MT), Vietnam (1,400 MT), and Japan (1,100 MT).

Good News: Beef Exports Up 74%

Net sales of 13,000 MT were up 74 percent from the previous week and 7 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for South Korea (4,000 MT), Mexico (2,300 MT), Vietnam (1,600 MT, including 300 MT switched from Hong Kong), Japan (1,200 MT), and Russia (1,100 MT).

WASDE: Beef Supply & Demand Estimates

Higher fed cattle marketings in the first quarter support a higher forecast of beef production despite lower carcass weights in the first part of the year. Cow slaughter is increased for the first half of the year.

Beef Exports Down 49% This Week

Net sales of 6,700 MT were down 49 percent from the previous week and 44 percent from the prior 4-week average.
