IMPORT BEEF TRADE

Compared to Last Week:  Early week market activity on imported beef was
moderate to active and prices were sharply higher. Import supplies were
very light. The flooding in Australia continued to dominate the trade
news. Most of the slaughter plants in Queensland reopened this week.
Transportation was a major problem due to extensive road damage. Roads
in some areas remained closed due to flooding.
