USDA: Net beef sales up 2 percent

According to the USDA, net sales of 12,700 MT for 2014 were up 2 percent from the previous week, but down 20 percent from the prior 4-week average.  Increases were reported for Japan (3,700 MT), Canada (2,200 MT), Mexico (2,200 MT), South Korea (1,700 MT), and Taiwan (1,000 MT). 

Net sales of 200 MT for 2015 were reported for Canada.  Exports of 13,900 MT were up 3 percent from the previous week and 11 percent from the prior 4-week average.  The primary destinations were Japan (4,200 MT), South Korea (2,500 MT), Hong Kong (2,200 MT), Mexico (2,000 MT), and Canada (1,400 MT).

Export sales do not directly relate to shipments.
