U.S. beef export shipments fell eight percent last week, down 1,475 metric tons to 16,059 MT. Beef export shipment lost most of the previous week’s gain, but remain 69 metric tons above the 27-week average. Shipments were primarily to Mexico (3,900 MT), followed by Canada (2,600 MT) and South Korea (2,400 MT). Vietnam and Japan received 2,100 MT and 1,800 MT respectively.
Beef export sales were 25 percent lower last week, settling at 9,700 metric tons. Beef export sales for delivery in 2013 were primarily for Mexico (3,300 MT), Canada (2,800 MT), South Korea (1,600 MT), the Netherlands (1,000 MT), and Vietnam (800 MT).
