Central U.S. Daily Direct Feedlot Slaughter Cattle Report as of 4:15 pm

On Wednesday afternoon cash trade and demand is light in Kansas. Compared to 

last week early live sales have sold 5.00 lower at 155.00. In Nebraska trade was 

moderate on light to moderate demand. In Nebraska compared to Tuesday live sales 

sold steady to 1.00 lower from 154.00-155.00 with the bulk of 154.00 sales 

having further than two week out delivery. Dressed sales sold 1.00-4.00 lower 

compared to Tuesday from 244.00-245.00, mostly at 244.00. In Iowa few dressed 

sales sold at 240.00 with further than two week out delivery. Trade was mostly 

inactive on light demand in all other feeding regions. Wednesday afternoon boxed 

beef cutout values were lower to sharply lower on light to moderate demand and 

moderate to heavy offerings. Choice was down 1.27 at 256.88 with Select down 

3.58 to close at 249.55 on 247 loads. The hide and offal value from a typical 

slaughter steer for today was estimated at 16.59 per cwt live, down -0.11 when 

compared to Tuesday's value. The estimated cattle slaughter for Wednesday was 

reported at 115,000. August CME live cattle contracts were down 1.40 to settle 

at 148.22 with October contracts down 1.12 to settle at 146.55.
