Central U.S. Daily Direct Feedlot Slaughter Cattle Report as of 4:20 pm



Today’s Reported Sales Volume:    6,000 

Today’s Estimated Sales Volume:  15,000 

  



On Wednesday negotiated cash trade and demand was light to moderate in Iowa with live 

and dressed sales at 153.00 and 242.00 respectively. In Nebraska and Kansas trade was 

light on light demand. In Nebraska few early sales sold at 152.00 and at 242.00. In 

Kansas few dressed sales sold at 241.00. Trade was mostly inactive on light demand in 

all other feeding regions. Wednesday afternoon boxed beef cutout values were lower on 

light to moderate demand and moderate to heavy offerings. Choice was down 1.36 at 

251.55 with Select down .84 to close at 243.07 on 215 loads. The hide and offal value 

from a typical slaughter steer for today was estimated at 16.61 per cwt live, down –

0.05 when compared to Tuesday's value. The estimated cattle slaughter for Wednesday 

was reported at 113,000. August CME live cattle futures were down 1.25 to settle at 

149.25 with October contracts down 1.82 to settle at 145.40.

and volume collected from feedlots or their representatives cooperating

on a voluntary basis. This report will be released at 3:30pm daily and

more frequently during active trading periods.
