Central U.S. Daily Direct Feedlot Slaughter Cattle Report as of 3:35 pm



Today’s Estimated Sales Volume:  12,000   

  

On Thursday negotiated cash trade was light on light to moderate demand in 

Nebraska and Iowa. Few early sales sold at 250.00 and 160.00 in Nebraska. In 

Iowa few early sales sold at 250.00 and from 158.00-160.00 respectively, however 

not enough sales in these regions for an adequate market test as most producers 

continue to pass current bids. Trading is at a standstill in all other feeding 

regions. Thursday afternoon boxed beef cutout values were firm to higher on 

moderate to fairly good demand and heavy offerings. Choice was up .54 at 248.12 

with Select up .75 to close at 234.69 on 259 loads. The hide and offal value 

from a typical slaughter steer for today was estimated at 16.81 per cwt live, up

0.23 when compared to Wednesday's value. The estimated cattle slaughter for 

Thursday was reported at 119,000. October CME live cattle contracts were up 1.62 

to settle at 157.05.

on a voluntary basis. This report will be released at 3:30pm daily and

more frequently during active trading periods.
