Cattle Auction Report for 05/01/2012

Receipts:  1367    Last Week:  2046    Year Ago:  2268

   Compared to last week, steers sold 1.00 to 4.00 higher; heifers 3.00 to
6.00 higher; slaughter cows 5.00 to 6.00 higher.  Demand was very good.
Cows and bulls were 20 percent of receipts.  In the feeder supply, steers
and bulls were 57 percent of the run; heifers 43 percent.  Near 38 percent
of feeders weighed over 600 lbs.

   Feeder Steers:  Medium and Large 1  few 350-375 lbs 201.00-215.00; 440-
500 lbs 180.00-192.25; 500-600 lbs 169.25-183.75, fleshy 160.00; 600-700 lbs
158.50-169.00, fleshy 158.25; 700-800 lbs 147.75-157.75; 800-885 lbs 142.25-
885 lbs 143.00.  Medium and Large 1-2  pkg 285 lbs thin 229.00; 300-335 lbs
