Feeder Cattle Auction for 04/30/2012

   Compared to the last tested market from two weeks ago, too few
feeder steers and heifers for a good market test, although a lower
undertone was noted on the available calves offered, and a load of
yearling steers traded 3.00 lower.  Slaughter cows steady compared
to last week.  Most of the calves were offered in small packages
as we enter the time of year when grass is abundant and most farmers
are occupied with crop planting, and soon hay harvest.  Demand was
moderate and the supply light.  Cows and bulls accounted for
22 percent of the run and feeders 78 percent.  In the feeder supply,
steers and bulls made up approximately 58 percent of the run; heifers
42 percent; steers and heifers over 600 lbs totaled around 53 percent.

   Feeder Steers:  Medium and Large 1 Few 450-500 lbs 180.00-189.00;
Few 500-600 lbs 175.00-189.50, Fleshy 161.00-166.00; Fleshy 650-700 lbs
