Morning National Slaughter Cattle Review for Thursday, 10/23/2014



   Trading was active in the Texas Panhandle and Kansas Thursday for the limited

number of available supplies with good demand. Compared to last week, a light test

of live sales traded 6.00 higher at mostly 170.00. In Nebraska, trading was moderate

on good demand. Compared to last week, live sales traded mostly 6.00 higher with the

bulk of the trade at 170.00. A few dressed sales traded at mostly 265.00 but not

enough to establish a market. Trading was limited in Colorado with a few live sales

5.00 to 5.50 higher than last week at 170.00. Trading was moderate in Iowa-Minnesota

on good demand. Compared to last week, early live sales ranged from 166.00-170.00,

with the bulk trending 4.00 higher at 167.00-168.00. The dressed trade was not well

established but early sales traded at mostly 264.00-265.00. The 170.00 price point

broke records again in all regions.
