American type cheese production totaled 362 million pounds, 0.6 percent below March 2009 but 13.1 percent above February 2010.

Butter production was 141 million pounds, 4.3 percent below March 2009 but slightly above February 2010.

Whey products: (comparisons with March 2009) Dry whey, total --- 93.6 million pounds, up 13.1 percent. Lactose, human and animal --- 74.4 million pounds, up 24.5 percent. Whey protein concentrate, total --- 36.3 million pounds, up 3.0 percent.

Frozen products: (comparisons with March 2009) Ice cream, Regular (hard) --- 79.8 million gallons, up 5.5 percent. Ice cream, Lowfat (total) --- 40.6 million  gallons, up 13.3 percent. Sherbet (hard) --- 4.93 million gallons, down 2.5 percent. Frozen Yogurt (total) --- 6.54 million gallons, up 1 percent.
