Kan. Cattle on Feed down 1 percent

Kansas feedlots, with capacities of 1,000 or more head, contained 2.06 million cattle on feed on June 1, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, Kansas Field Office. This inventory was down 1 percent from last year. This is the lowest June 1 inventory since 1999.

Placements during May totaled 430,000 head, down 3 percent from 2012.

Fed cattle marketings for the month of May totaled 410,000 head, down 1 percent from last year.

Other disappearance during May totaled 20,000 head, unchanged from a year ago.
