Nebraska Cattle on Feed up 6 percent
Nebraska feedlots, with capacities of 1,000 or more head, contained 2.37 million cattle on feed on May 1, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service, Nebraska Field Office. The inventory was up 6 percent from last year.

Cattle Outlook: March beef exports up 47 percent
Beef exports during March totaled 245.288 million pounds, up 46.5% compared to a year earlier and the second largest monthly total ever behind 259.2 million pounds exported in June 2003. Beef imports during March totaled 175.01 million pounds, down 21.0% from 12 months earlier.

US cattle: Moving higher amid cash supply jitters
Live cattle futures prices Wednesday are higher amid mounting trader concerns about thin cash-market supplies and higher prices.
The most-active April contract recently traded 0.95 cent a pound, or 0.84%, higher at $1.1472. The soon-to-expire February contract recently traded up 0.55 cent a pound, or 0.50%, at $1.0960.

US cattle: futures open lower after report shows larger numbers
Live cattle futures traders on Monday took live cattle futures lower on the open after a USDA report on Friday showed a larger-than-expected number of cattle populating the nation's feedlots. February live cattle recently traded at $1.0725 a pound, down 0.70 cent a pound, or 0.65% on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, while April was off 0.77c, or 0.68%, at $1.1190.

Corn Prices Finish The Year On Fire
The U.S. average corn price increased for the sixth consecutive month as prices climbed $0.39 to $4.94 per bushel. The average corn price is $1.05 above its 10 month average. North Dakota and Wisconsin posted the largest increases throughout the country.

Dry Whey prices received for bag, tote, and tanker sales meeting USDA Extra Grade standards averaged 39.0 cents per pound for the week ending January 1, 2011. The US price per pound increased 0.8 cents from the previous week.

Calf Prices Soar To 27 Month Highs
The average U.S. calf price increased $4.00 to $128.00 cwt in December. Calf prices in Colorado posted the largest increase of all of the states as prices jumped $10.00 to $138.00 per cwt. In South Dakota calves climbed $6.00 to $138.00 per cwt while in Montana prices increased $4.00 to $135.00 per cwt.
