Amarillo Livestock Auction Summary, Amarillo, TX - 4/09/2012
Cattle and Calves: 468 Week Ago: 823 Year Ago: 767
Compared to last week: Extremely limited test on feeder steers and
heifers; not enough sales for an adequate market trend. Receipts were curbed
by the Easter holiday with only one load of steers available in the offering.
Slaughter cows and bulls were mostly steady on a very light test. Slaughter
cows made up 11 percent of the offering, slaughter bulls less than 1 percent,
replacement cows 0 percent and 88 percent feeders. Feeder supply consisted of
60 percent feeder steers and bulls, 40 percent feeder heifers. Approximately
53 percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs.
Steers: Medium and Large 1 few 250 lbs 216.00; few 300-350 lbs 205.00-
221.00; few 411 lbs 209.50; few 548 lbs 175.00.
Medium and Large 1-2 few 379 lbs 190.00; few 505 lbs 180.00; ld 757 lbs
147.00.
Medium and Large 2-3 few 703 lbs 133.50.
Heifers: Medium and Large 1 few 353 lbs 184.00; 500-600 lbs 143.00-154.00.
