Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 04/05/12

Receipts:  1,020    Last Week:  5,319    Last Year:  727
 
   Compared to last week:  Feeder and stocker cattle lightly tested.  Feeding 
cows lightly tested however a lower undertone was noted.  Slaughter cows sold 
unevenly steady to 2.00 lower with limited comparable sales.  Slaughter bulls 
sold mostly steady.  Demand moderate to good.  Approximately, 15 percent feeder 
cattle; 12 percent feeding cows; 3 percent pairs; 50 percent slaughter cows; 2 
percent slaughter bulls with the balance bred cows and misc. cattle.  In the 
feeder supply, steers made up 18 percent of the run; heifers 82 percent; steers 
and heifers over 600 lbs totaled 58 percent.  All bred stock sold by the head 
and pairs sold per pair, unless otherwise stated.  All bred cows and heifers 
represented to calve before May 15th, unless otherwise stated.  

   Steers:  Medium and Large 1  589 lbs 166.50; 976 lbs 121.75.  

   Heifers:  Medium and Large 1  450-500 lbs 162.50-170.00; 540-555 lbs 158.50-
170.00; 640-665 lbs 147.25-150.00, fleshy 136.00; 718 lbs fleshy 125.00; 738 lbs 
144.25.

   Feeding Cows:  Medium and Large 1-2  2-3 yr old 900-1030 lbs 115.00-120.00, 
1135 lbs 99.50; Young 1040-1150 lbs 100.00-107.00; Middle Aged 1100-1200 lbs 
93.00-94.50.

   1st calf Heifer Pairs:  Medium and Large 1  1000-1050/120-150 lbs 2025.00-
2250.00.

   Cow/Calf Pairs:  Medium and Large 1-2  Broken mouth 1200-1300/50-150 lbs
