National Slaughter Cattle Summary - Week Ending April 13, 2012
Compared to last week: Slaughter cattle sold mostly steady,
dressed sales in Nebraska 1.00 higher. Boxed beef prices showing
an increase after being down last week.
Boxed beef prices Friday morning averaged 177.75 up 1.55 from
last Friday. The Choice/Select spread is at .82. Slaughter cattle
on a national basis for negotiated cash trades through Friday morning
totaled about 108,794 head. Last week's total head count was 83,810.
Midwest Direct Markets:
Live Basis: Steers and Heifers
35-80 Percent Choice, 1200-1400 lbs 122.00-123.50
Dressed Basis: Steers and Heifers: 194.00-195.00, few at 201.00.
South Plains Direct Markets:
Live Basis: Steers and Heifers
35-65 percent Choice, 1100-1400 lbs 122.00
Slaughter Cows and Bulls (Average Yielding Prices):
Slaughter cows and bulls mostly steady to 4.00 higher.
USDA's Cutter cow carcass cut-out value Friday morning was 173.87 up
2.48 from last Friday.
