Compared to last week: Feeder steers 500-750 lbs sold mostly 4.00-8.00 higher
and heifers 550-750 lbs sold steady to 2.00 higher on comparable sales.
Offering included a several loads of conditioned 6 weight steers. Demand was
moderate to good with the CME live and feeder cattle futures closing strong.
Many buyers on hand for the replacement cow special. Slaughter cows and bulls
were unevenly steady with some high dressing individuals topping last weeks
market. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 17 percent of the offering,
replacements 13 percent and feeders 70 percent. The feeder supply consisted of
62 percent steers and bulls, and 38 percent heifers. Near 63 percent of the run
weighed over 600 lbs.
