Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for 01/17/13
Receipts: 2,213 Last Week: 4,200 Last Year: 2,180
Compared to last week: Feeder and stocker steers sold 2.00 to 5.00 lower, few
5.00 to 8.00 lower on offerings under 500 lbs. Feeder and stocker heifers sold
steady to 3.00 lower. Feeding cows sold steady to weak on limited comparable sales.
Slaughter cows and bulls sold mostly steady in a light test. Value Added flag
denoted cattle that qualify for an all-natural program. Demand moderate to good.
Approximately, 65 percent feeder and stocker cattle; 5 percent feeding cows; 24
percent slaughter cows with the balance slaughter bulls and misc. cattle. In the
feeder supply, steers made up 51 percent of the run; bulls 3 percent; heifers 46
percent; steers/bulls and heifers over 600 lbs totaled 45 percent. All bred stock
sold by the head and pairs sold per pair, unless otherwise stated. All bred cows and
heifers represented to calve before May 15th, unless otherwise stated.
