Feeder Cattle Weighted Average Report for the week of 01/14/2013

Receipts This Week:  9080    Last Week:  11,784    Last Year:  12,083
 
   Compared to last week:  Feeder steers and heifers 2.00-5.00 lower.
Steer and heifer calves are steady but with a heavier supply of long
weaned and thin fleshed cattle being offered.  Demand moderate to 
good with least action on 800-900 lb. steers and 700-800 lb. heifers.
Corn prices moved higher as USDA reports showing grain stocks much
lower.  This news spilled over into the feeder cattle pit causing 
feeder futures to decline.  Demand continues very good for lightweight
thin fleshed cattle.  Many of these cattle are already headed to grass
accounts.  Quality average to attractive.  Weigh-ups showed the complete 
range of gaunt to full.  Supply included 70 percent over 600 lbs and 38 
percent heifers.
