Montana Weekly Cattle Auction Summary
Receipts: 4,390 Last Week: 4,993 Year Ago: 586
Compared to last week: Feeder and stocker steers mostly sold 2.00 to 6.00
higher however 7 weight steers sold 2.00 to 6.00 lower with trend being
comprised on very limited comparable sales. Stocker heifers sold unevenly
steady. Not enough feeder heifers to establish a market trend however a higher
undertone was noted. Feeding cows sold 2.00 to 6.00 higher. Slaughter cows and
bulls sold unevenly steady. Demand moderate to good. Approximately, 28 percent
feeder and stocker cattle; 9 percent feeding cows; 6 percent cow/calf pairs; 43
percent slaughter cows; 3 percent slaughter bulls with the balance misc. cattle.
In the feeder supply, steers made up 36 percent of the run; heifers 64 percent;
steers and heifers over 600 lbs totaled 77 percent. All bred stock sold by the
head and pairs sold per pair, unless otherwise stated. All bred cows and
heifers represented to calve before May 15th, unless otherwise stated.
