Compared to last week: Domestic Alfalfa traded steady to 5.00 lower in all
regions, bulk of decline on mid-range to lower quality hay. Retail/Stable hay
traded steady. Export hay traded mostly steady to 5.00 lower. Demand moderate
for all classes with moderate trade activity. Northern California has started
baling in many regions, excluding the Intermountain region with plans to start
baling by June 1st in that region. High testing hay continues to trade at much
of the same values across the Central Valley. Buyers in Region 6 continue to bid
on hay aggressively. Exporters are very active on par for export quality hay.
Quality still remains on lower end as higher temperatures enter the valley.
Kleingrass is beginning to trade throughout the area, buyers aggressive on all
types. Sudan grass pricing expected in the next few weeks. All prices are
reported FOB the stack or barn unless otherwise noted.
