California Hay Report



   Compared to last week: Premium and Supreme hay is mostly steady.  Hay below 

good quality traded 5.00 to 10.00 lower this week.  Demand light to moderate on 

low test hay and good to very good on milk test hay.  End users are showing 

resistance at the current price levels on dry cow hay.  Wheat straw is showing a 

firmer undertone as many dairies are using it in replace of alfalfa in their 

rations.  All prices reported FOB at the stack or barn unless otherwise noted.

Region 6: Southeast California: Eastern San Bernardino, Riverside, and 

Imperial.



Alfalfa hay test guidelines, (for domestic livestock use and not more than 

10% grass), used with visual appearance and intent of sale Quantitative 

factors are approximate and many factors can affect feeding value.
