California Hay Report



   Compared to last week: Premium and Supreme hay is mostly steady.  Demand very 

light to light on low test hay and good to very good on milk test hay.  Rains 

decided to show up this week in the state, which got hay that was down in the 

fields.  Fires burning in region one has made things more difficult for growers 

with the smoke and roads being closed this week.  This week also got news of 

Russia banning imports of Western agriculture products. Prices reported FOB at 

the stack or barn unless otherwise noted. Regions are defined at bottom of 

report.

Alfalfa hay test guidelines, (for domestic livestock use and not more than 

10% grass), used with visual appearance and intent of sale Quantitative 

factors are approximate and many factors can affect feeding value.
