OKLAHOMA HAY MARKET REPORT
Trade slow to moderate on light to moderate demand. Movement mostly light.
Supreme and Premium quality alfalfa still not established as no sales of
these offerings have been confirmed. Buyers and sellers are in disagreement
over pricing ideas and most better quality offerings are going into
producer's barns. Yields continue to be very good and producers are reporting
exceptional regrowth for the second cutting. Grass hay baling activities
turned extremely active this week and yields are generally very good.
Overall quality of early offerings reported as very good. However, much like
the alfalfa market, trading is very light at this time.
A good deal of rain damaged and over-mature alfalfa was offered last week and
early this week. Old crop grass hay offerings also fairly heavy but buyers
are showing little interest in these.
Market News continues to maintain an online hay directory for both in-state
and out-of-state hay producers. The directories are on the ODAFF homepage at
www.oda.state.ok.us. Producers wishing to list hay are encouraged to call at
1-800-580-6543 or email jack.carson@ag.ok.gov.
