Pacific Northwest Market Summary: Feed ingredient offers ended the reporting week on
Wednesday, January 2, mixed, compared to last report's offers. Offers for soybean meal,
canola meal, and distillers dried grains were lower, while barley, and whole cottonseed
offers trended steady to lower. Suncured alfalfa pellets, oats and wheat millrun offers
trended steady. Offers for meat and bone meal trended mixed, while corn offers trended
mixed, mostly lower.
Oilseed Meal Markets: Offers for 47 percent protein Soybean Meal, for nearby rail
delivery, were 455.10-472.10, 37.80 to 38.80 per ton lower than last report's offers.
Soybean meal basis offers were 48.00 to 65.00 per ton over the January soybean meal
futures of 407.10, and 57.00 per ton over the March soybean meal futures of 405.70. Two
weeks ago soybean meal basis offers were 49.00 to 65.00 per ton over the January soybean
meal futures of 444.90. Offers for soybean meal truck delivered to the Willamette
Valley were 477.70-487.10, 37.80 to 42.20 per ton lower than week ago offers. Offers
for nearby rail delivered Canola Meal, 34 to 36 percent protein, were 323.10-350.00,
5.00 to 31.80 per ton lower than two weeks ago offers. Truck delivered canola meal
offers, 34 to 36 percent protein, were 338.10-365.00, also 5.00 to 31.80 per ton lower
than two weeks ago offers.
Whole Cottonseed: Whole Cottonseed offers for delivery to points in the Pacific
Northwest from the Midsouth in single boxcars were 375.00-389.00 per ton, steady to 5.00
lower compared to two weeks ago offers. Offers for whole cottonseed trans-loaded onto
trucks and delivered to Willamette Valley dairies were 390.00-404.00 per ton, also
steady to 5.00 lower compared two weeks ago offers.
Animal Proteins: Offers for 46 to 50 percent protein Meat and Bone Meal, FOB Seattle
plants, were 365.00, steady with last report's offers. Offers for meat and bone meal
truck delivered to Portland and the Willamette Valley were 390.00-395.00, mixed, from
15.00 lower to 26.00 higher than last report's offers.
Wheat Millrun: Feed mill offers for Wheat Millrun for nearby delivery, loaded truck
FOB the flour mill in Portland, had limited offers at 255.00, steady compared to two
weeks ago offers. Offers for wheat millrun truck delivered to the Willamette Valley
were also steady with two weeks ago offers at 267.00. Flour mill offers for wheat
millrun rail delivered to Portland on the Burlington Northern Line from eastern
Washington and eastern Oregon for December through March delivery offers were 225.00,
steady with two weeks ago offers for the same delivery period. Offers for April through
June were 215.00, steady with last report's offers. Offers for wheat millrun FOB
eastern Oregon and eastern Washington for January through September delivery were
200.00, 5.00 lower than two weeks ago offers for the same delivery period.
Alfalfa Products: Offers for Suncured Alfalfa Pellets, 15 percent protein, delivered
by truck to the Willamette Valley were 319.00, steady with two weeks ago offers.
Distillers Dried Grains: Offers for Distillers Dried Grains delivered by rail to
feed mills in the Pacific Northwest were 303.00-310.00, 2.00 to 4.00 lower compared to
two weeks ago offers. Offers for distillers dried grains trans-loaded onto trucks and
delivered to Willamette Valley dairies were 321.00-325.00, also 2.00 to 4.00 lower
compared to two weeks ago offers.
Coarse Feeding Grains: Offers for US 2 Barley for nearby delivery to Portland in
single rail cars for domestic use were 285.00-295.00, 5.00 to 8.00 per ton lower than
two weeks ago offers. Offers for US 2 Barley truck delivered to the Willamette Valley
were 296.00-302.00, steady to 6.00 lower than two weeks ago offers. US 2 Yellow Corn
offers for rail delivery to points north of Seattle were 294.50-295.00, 8.00 to 8.50 per
ton lower than two weeks ago offers. Offers for US 2 Yellow Corn rail delivered to
points in the Seattle area were 391.25-292.00, 7.75 to 9.00 per ton lower compared to
last report's offers. Offers for US 2 Yellow Corn rail delivered to Portland were 8.25
to 10.50 per ton lower, from 289.50-290.25. Offers for US 2 Yellow Corn truck delivered
to the Willamette Valley were 312.50-313.00 per ton, mixed, from 9.75 lower to 7.25 per
ton higher than last report's offers. US 2 Yellow Corn offers for truck delivery to the
Yakima Valley were 3.25 to 10.75 per ton lower than two weeks ago offers at 287.75-
294.25. Chicago March corn futures closed at 6.9075, 29.25 cents lower than last
report's March corn futures close of 7.20. Offers for US 2 Heavy White Oats truck
delivered to Portland and Willamette Valley were 265.00, steady with two weeks ago
offers.
