Washington-Oregon (Columbia Basin) Weekly Hay Report
Tons: 10,135 Last Week: 14,800 Last Year: 1615
Compared to last week, Alfalfa for domestic use for current delivery steady to
firm. New crop Alfalfa on a delivered basis 5.00-15.00 higher. Timothy for export
steady. Trade remains slow on old crop Alfalfa, active on old crop Timothy for
export and New Crop Alfalfa contracts for domestic use. Demand remains light to
moderate with best demand for 2-3 tie small bales. Overseas buyers still calling
looking for supplies especially for Timothy. Retail/Feedstore steady to firm in a
light test. Trade very slow with continued light supplies being held in firm
hands. All prices are dollars per ton and FOB unless otherwise stated. Est. hay
planting for WA for 2012 showed 8 percent increase in acres compared to 2011.
