Weekly East River South Dakota Hay Market

Compared to last week, all classes mostly steady. Demand remains
good for dairy quality alfalfa, moderate for lower qualities and
grass hay. Rain showers in the area bringing around an inch in many
places, more rain forecast for the weekend and beginning of next week.
Temps dropped below freezing midweek, in places in the low 20’s which
damaged some stands as the warm weather prior had the alfalfa growing
nicely.
Alfalfa: Good to Premium: Large Rounds 180.00. Good: Large
Squares 200.00. Fair: Large Rounds 160.00. Utility: Large
Squares and Rounds 150.00.
Sun-cured Alfalfa pellets: 17 pct 250.00, 15 pct 240.00. Alfalfa
Meal: 17 pct 253.00.
Mixed Alfalfa/Grass: Fair: Large Rounds 110.00 delivered.
Grass: Good: Large Rounds 120.00. Fair: Large Rounds 85.00.
Utility: Large Rounds 75.00.
