Weekly East River South Dakota Hay Market

Compared to last week: Very lightly reported trades this week. Alfalfa had no
comparable sales as only had non-tested lots of new crop. Alfalfa Pellets, grass,
and mixed hay steady. 1st cutting of alfalfa is in full swing, with many producers
having a large number of acres cut and starting to bale. Many acres of alfalfa were
done as balage or chopped for haylage due to the rain that we received in the past week.
All hay and straw sold by the ton FOB, unless otherwise noted.
Alfalfa: Good: Large Squares, 175.00 New Crop. Fair: Large Squares, 90.00 New Crop;
Utility to Fair: Large Squares, 125.00; Large Rounds, 100.00.
Sun-cured Alfalfa pellets: 15 pct 245.00; 17 pct 250.00. Alfalfa Meal: 17
Grass: Fair: Large Rounds, 100.00.
Alfalfa/Grass Mix: Fair: Large Rounds, 140.00 Delivered Short Haul.
Wheat Straw: No Reported sales.
Cornstalks: No Reported Sales.
