Weekly East River South Dakota Hay Market
All prices per ton, unless noted, FOB the stack.
Compared to last week: Too few reported sales to make an accurate
price comparison. Demand only moderate this week. Very large rains across
the trade area, 6 to 12 inches for the week in many areas. Many hay growers
had made their first cutting last weekend only to have it rained on very
heavily, others waited and are looking to make their first cutting this weekend.
Flash flooding in SE SD, NW IA, and SW MN closed many roads making it very
difficult to transport hay. Very little trade activity because of the
stormy, rain, poor hay making weather. All hay and straw sold by the ton FOB,
unless otherwise noted.
