Weekly East River South Dakota Hay Market

Compared to last week: Few comparable sales of alfalfa mostly steady.
Light demand for lower quality hay only suitable for grinding, moderate to
good demand for higher quality. Many growers still finishing up their baling
of first cutting alfalfa, some working on their second. Many growers putting
up grass hay this week as conditions were much more favorable than in recent
weeks. Showers forecast over the weekend along with warmer temps after the
unseasonably cool temps most of this week. All hay and straw sold by the ton
FOB, unless otherwise noted.
Alfalfa: Good: Large Squares, 190.00-200.00, 1 load at 225.00. Fair:
Large Rounds, 120.00. Utility: Large Squares and Rounds, 80.00 Del.
Sun-cured Alfalfa pellets: 15 pct 240.00; 17 pct 245.00. Alfalfa Meal: 17
Grass: No reported sales.
