Weekly East River South Dakota Hay Market
All prices per ton, unless noted, FOB the stack.
Compared to last week: All classes of hay steady this week on a
very light reported volume; Alfalfa pellets 10.00 lower. Good demand
remains for high testing dairy quality alfalfa and high quality grass hay.
Moderate for lower quality alfalfa and grass. Third cutting is essentially
complete across most of the region after big rains caused delays in getting
hay put up. Producers are hoping for a warmer, dryer forecast for the next
week in order to be able to put up a fouth cutting of alfalfa. Some corn
silage cutting has started across the region. All hay and straw sold by the
ton FOB, unless otherwise noted.
