Weekly Montana Hay Report
Prices remain steady for all classes of hay. Very little reported
trade again this week as supplies of hay are very tight. Many hay
growers report they are sold out or are just about sold out. Very good
demand remains as hay supply is limited. Freight cost is very restrictive
to shipping hay in from other areas where supply is more plentiful.
Canada reportedly has a more abundant supply of hay, some of that
hay has been coming south to Montana. Cows have been coming to town
to the auctions where large runs are seen due to the lack of grazing
this fall and the tight hay supply. All prices are dollars per ton and
FOB unless otherwise noted.
