Net sales of 536,600 pieces reported for delivery in 2010, down 24 percent from the previous week and 10 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hides sales of 506,700 pieces were mainly for China (203,900 pieces), South Korea (121,000 pieces), Taiwan (56,100 pieces), Hong Kong (52,900 pieces), and Vietnam (26,600 pieces). Exports of 486,600 pieces were down 10 percent from the previous week and 1 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hides exports of 480,000 pieces were primarily to China (237,600 pieces), South Korea (99,500 pieces), Taiwan (50,100 pieces), and Hong Kong (26,800 pieces).
Net sales of 89,200 wet blues for delivery in 2010 were down 42 percent from the previous week and 14 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were Italy (32,200 unsplit), China (22,100 unsplit), Mexico (8,900 grain splits and 7,600 unsplit), and South Korea (4,000 unsplit and 2,300 grain splits). Decreases were reported for the Dominican Republic (200 grain splits). Net sales of 9,000 grain splits for delivery in 2011 were for South Korea and 4,500 unsplit were for Italy. Exports of 160,300 hides were primarily to Italy (49,900 unsplit), China (48,600 unsplit and 1,300 grain splits), and Vietnam (14,300 unsplit and 400 grain splits). Net sales splits reductions of 45,000 pounds resulted as increases for South Korea (179,500 pounds) and Hong Kong (400 pounds), were partially offset by decreases for Italy (225,000 pounds). Net sales splits of 971,200 pounds for delivery in 2011 were for South Korea. Exports of 194,400 pounds were for Hong Kong.
