Net beef export sales back in the black

U.S. beef export sales totaled 13,159 metric tons last week, moving up from the -9,660 MT hole the previous week. Sales remain under the 27-week average of 15,261 MT and is down 15 percent from the prior 4-week average. Sales increases were noted in Japan (2,800 MT), Mexico (2,500 MT) and Russia (2,400 MT). South Korea and Canada rounded out the top five with 2,200 MT and 1,100 MT respectively.

U.S. beef export shipments remain steady, up 5 percent from the previous week to 16,011 metric tons. Shipments recover from the previous week’s losses and inch above the 27-week average. Mexico received the most U.S. beef export shipments, taking 3,100 metric tons. South Korea was second with 2,600 MT, followed by Vietnam (2,400 MT).
