Unofficial reports say JBS SA has leased four slaughterhouses in Brazil, allowing them to slaughter an additional 3,050 animals per day.
Bloomberg reports three of the slaughterhouses are located in Mato Grosso, Brazil’s top cattle state, and a fourth is located in the northern state of Rondonia. Three people confirmed the deal but an official statement has not been released.
JBS has the capacity to slaughter 87,290 cattle per day in 62 plants across six countries. Most of the plants are located in Mato Grosso. The state is also home to 13 percent of the company’s 205.3 million animals.
