A free webinar by South Dakota State University Extension will help agricultural producers embrace social media and take advantage of the benefits it offers.

The free webinar, hosted by SDSU Extension Cow/Calf Field Specialist Kalyn Waters, will be May 1, from 2-3 p.m. As attendees become comfortable with social media, they can expand their network and learn from the experience of others.

“In the fast-paced social media world we live in, there are tremendous opportunities for cattle producers, farmers, and others involved in agriculture to promote their products and operations through the use of social media,” Waters said in a release.

Social media allows producers to communicate with others in the industry, but the platform also gives them the opportunity to educate customers and consumers about the industry and the origins of America’s food.

“The increasing popularity of social media outlets provides a unique opportunity and wide platform for producers to reach their customers and consumers. Whether producing farm-fresh vegetables or a purebred seedstock cattle, social media can have a positive impact on your operations overall productivity and profits if successfully managed,” Waters said.

The featured speaker is someone who knows about the agricultural community. Anna-Lisa Giannini was raised on a ranch and is the owner/operator of A-L Outreach, a social media consulting firm located in California.
