Kansas fed cattle marketings lowest since 1995

Kansas feedlots, with capacities of 1,000 or more head, contained 2.09 million cattle on feed on April 1, according to the USDA’s National Agriculture Statistics Service. This inventory was down slightly from last year.

Placements during March totaled 390,0000 head, down 8 percent from 2013.

Fed cattle marketings for the month of March totaled 345,000 head, down 1 percent from last year. This is the lowest March marketings since 1995.

Other disappearance during March totaled 15,000 head, down 10,000 head from last year.
