Cattle on feed up 1 percent

USDA’s August Cattle on Feed report shows feedyard inventories as of August 1 running 1 percent below those of one year ago. Placements into feedyards during July were down a full 10 percent from those during July 2011, but last-year’s placements were unusually high. Colorado Cattle on Feed up 17 percent

The number of cattle and calves on feed for the slaughter market in Colorado feedlots with a capacity of 1,000 head or larger was estimated at 1,100,000 head as of May 1, 2011. This latest inventory is up 1 percent from last month and up 17 percent from last year. Kansas Cattle on Feed up 2 percent

The number of cattle on feed on May 1, 2011 in Kansas feedlots with 1,000 head or more capacity totaled 2.17 million head, up 2 percent from a year ago but down 1 percent from April 1. Idaho Cattle on Feed up 10 Percent

Cattle and calves on feed for the slaughter market in Idaho from feedlots with a capacity of 1,000 or more head on May 1, 2011 totaled 230,000 head, up 10 percent from the previous year, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service. FULL STORY »

Nebraska Cattle on Feed up 6 percent
