The Agriculture Department says that with snow mostly gone in South Dakota, farmers are trying to finish last fall's delayed corn harvest.

Three percent of the corn crop still remains in the field.

The department says in its latest crop-weather report that just under half of the state's winter wheat acreage is breaking dormancy. The condition of the crop is rated 7 percent poor, 25 percent fair, 61 percent good and 7 percent excellent.

The conditions of cattle and sheep are rated mostly good to excellent. Calving is about 38 percent done and lambing 59 percent complete.
