Central U.S. Daily Direct Feedlot Slaughter Cattle Report as of 3:40 PM

On Friday trade was mostly inactive on light demand in all feeding regions. 
Negotiated cash 5-Area week to date trade volumes per Mandatory Price Reporting; 
16,911 in the Texas Panhandle; 29,960 in Kansas; 31,869 for Nebraska, 2,805 in 
Colorado; and 23,895 in the Western Cornbelt. Friday afternoon boxed beef cutout 
values were firm to higher on moderate demand and offerings. Choice was up 1.81 
at 178.51 with Select up .57 to close at 177.33 on 172 loads. The hide and offal 
value from a typical slaughter steer for today was estimated at 13.34 per cwt 
live, down -0.08 when compared to Thursday's value. The estimated cattle 
slaughter for Friday was reported at 119,000 with Saturday reported at 3,000 for 
a week to date estimate of 582,000.

and volume collected from feedlots or their representatives cooperating 
on a voluntary basis. This report will be released at 3:30pm daily and 
more frequently during active trading periods.
