Central U.S. Daily Direct Feedlot Slaughter Cattle Report as of 3:40 pm

  On Friday negotiated cash trade was mostly inactive on moderate demand in all 
feeding regions. 5-Area week-to-date negotiated cash volumes per Mandatory Price 
Reporting. 4,911 in the Texas Panhandle, 16,658 in Kansas, 43,505 in Nebraska, 
4,915 in Colorado and 21,205 in Iowa/Minnesota. Friday afternoon boxed beef 
cutout values were higher on light to moderate demand and light offerings. 
Choice was up 1.86 at 202.41 with Select up 1.33 to close at 197.38 on 115 
loads. The hide and offal value from a typical slaughter steer for today was 
estimated at 14.92 per cwt live, up 0.05 when compared to Thursday's value. The 
estimated cattle slaughter for Friday was reported at 123,000 with 46,000 on 
Saturday for an estimated weekly slaughter of 521,000. February CME live cattle 
contracts were up .67 to settle at 136.30.

Daily Direct Slaughter Cattle Negotiated Purchases Reports as base prices
and again on the National Daily Direct Slaughter Cattle Formula Purchases
Reports as net prices.

Included in this report are negotiated cash and negotiated grid prices
and volume collected from feedlots or their representatives cooperating
on a voluntary basis. This report will be released at 3:30pm daily and
more frequently during active trading periods.
