U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) leadership and senior staff will play a major role at the annual meeting of the International Livestock Congress (ILC), which is set for Jan. 15 in Denver.

Leann Saunders, USMEF vice-chair and president of IMI Global, Inc., discusses the traceability panel she will be moderating in the attached audio report. Panelists include Mark Gustafson, vice president of international sales for JBS USA, John Butler, CEO of Beef Marketing Group and Rick Stott, executive vice president of AgriBeef Co.

Saunders explains that while the regulatory side of traceability (including the new USDA animal disease traceability rule) will be briefly addressed, the panel’s main focus will be on voluntary beef industry initiatives that employ traceability as an important marketing tool.

Also at the ILC meeting, USMEF President and CEO Philip Seng will moderate a panel consisting of the executive council of the International Meat Secretariat (IMS). This panel will focus on a variety of key economic issues facing the meat and livestock industry worldwide. Paul Clayton, USMEF senior vice president for export services will serve as moderator for sessions on technical issues and consumer trends.

If you have any questions or would like a more extensive interview with Ms. Saunders or any of USMEF’s International Livestock Congress participants, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

More information on the Jan. 15 meeting is also available online.
