AgWeek reports the North Dakota Department of Agriculture rejected a Canadian cattleman’s request to import cattle without testing.
The North Dakota State Board of Animal Health met Thursday to consider the request. Canadian cattleman Korbyn Kost asked permission to import cattle to the U.S. without North Dakota’s required tuberculosis and brucellosis tests. Additionally, Kost’s cattle would not meet the state’s brucellosis vaccination requirement.
The nine-member board voted unanimously to reject Kost’s request.
