Feeder cattle and calf prices uneven, market remains volatile

Compared to last week, feeder cattle and calf prices across the country were uneven again for the third straight week as multiple market variables continue to pull prices in both directions.

The national average cow price fell $2.40 in October to $53.00. The U.S. price has fallen for the third consecutive month and is now below the average price for the year. The national cow price remains $3.49 above the 27-month average and $12.60 above the 27-month low.
