USDA Exports: Corn Down, Soybeans & Wheat Up, Beef Sales To Russia

Wheat: Net sales of 371,200 metric tons for delivery in 2009/10 were up 14 percent from the previous week and 23 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Nigeria (95,700 MT, including 25,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), Indonesia (61,000 MT, switched from unknown destinations), Japan (50,600 MT), South Korea (49,400 MT), and Malaysia (45,000 MT). Decreases were reported for unknown destinations (52,900 MT) and Ecuador (12,600 MT). Net sales of 148,000 MT for delivery in 2010/11 were for unknown destinations (70,000 MT), Singapore (55,000 MT), and South Korea (23,000 MT). Exports of 453,000 MT were up 76 percent from the previous week and 5 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Japan (88,600 MT), Mexico (72,600 MT), Nigeria (65,700 MT), Morocco (54,600 MT), the Philippines (48,700 MT), and Peru (29,300 MT).

Corn:
Net sales of 606,800 MT for delivery in 2009/10 were down 19 percent from the previous week, but up 8 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Mexico (142,100 MT), Japan (139,900 MT), South Korea (112,400 MT), Taiwan (111,200 MT, including 56,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), Guatemala (43,600 MT), Canada (35,800 MT), Honduras (30,000 MT, including 20,000 MT switched from Costa Rica), and Morocco (12,000 MT, including 11,000 MT switched from unknown destinations). Decreases were reported for unknown destinations (45,600 MT) and Costa Rica (20,000 MT). There were no sales reported for delivery in 2010/11. Exports for own account were reported for Mexico (4,700 MT). Exports of 1,160,800 MT were up 22 percent from the previous week and 10 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Japan (280,900 MT), Mexico (265,400 MT), South Korea (132,100 MT), Taiwan (127,900 MT), Egypt (107,600 MT), Peru (49,200 MT), and Venezuela (33,700 MT).

Barley: There were no sales reported during the week. Exports of 3,100 MT were to Canada (2,900 MT) and Mexico (200 MT).

Sorghum:
Net sales of 17,000 MT resulted as increases for Mexico (17,800 MT) and Japan (5,600 MT, switched from unknown destinations), were partially offset by decreases for unknown destinations (6,000 MT) and Canada (400 MT). Exports of 106,800 MT were to Mexico (98,200 MT) and Japan (8,600 MT).

Rice: Net sales of 62,300 MT were up 2 percent from the previous week, but down 23 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Japan (14,300 MT), Costa Rica (14,100 MT), Mexico (9,500 MT), Saudi Arabia (6,500 MT), Guatemala (5,200 MT), and Jamaica (3,500 MT). Exports of 100,700 MT were up 22 percent from the previous week and 27 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Mexico (34,600 MT), Japan (13,100 MT), the United Kingdom (9,100 MT), Guatemala (9,100 MT), Nicaragua (7,800 MT), and Costa Rica (6,900 MT).

Soybeans: Net sales of 273,400 MT for delivery in 2009/10 were up 28 percent from the previous week and up noticeably from the prior 4-week average. Increases reported for Mexico (157,200 MT), Germany (78,500 MT, including 70,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), Taiwan (70,600 MT), Indonesia (69,400 MT, including 65,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 100 MT), Japan (55,000 MT, including 45,000 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 11,700 MT), and South Korea (52,300 MT, switched from unknown destinations), were partially offset by decreases for unknown destinations (236,900 MT). Net sales of 46,500 MT for delivery in 2010/11 were for Egypt (106,000 MT), Japan (5,200 MT), and Canada (300 MT). Decreases were reported for China (65,000 MT). Exports of 796,200 MT were down 13 percent from the previous week and 22 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (283,900 MT), Japan (83,800 MT), Indonesia (81,300 MT), Germany (78,500 MT), Mexico (68,500 MT), and Taiwan (64,800 MT). Note: Accumulated exports were adjusted down for China (57,500 MT).

Soybean Cake and Meal: Net sales of 189,500 MT for delivery in 2009/10 were up noticeably from the previous week and the prior 4-week average. Increases reported for the United Kingdom (48,500 MT, including 45,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), Morocco (46,500 MT, including 15,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), Vietnam (31,000 MT, including 30,600 MT switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 7,500 MT), Guatemala (29,300 MT), and Poland (26,400 MT, including 24,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), were partially offset by decreases for unknown destinations (87,300 MT), Japan (2,100 MT), and Peru (400 MT). Net sales of 25,700 MT for delivery in 2010/11 were for Canada. Exports of 339,100 MT were up 45 percent from the previous week and 31 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were the Philippines (52,300 MT), the United Kingdom (48,500 MT), Denmark (34,200 MT), Vietnam (33,300 MT), Poland (26,400 MT), and Mexico (24,100 MT).

Soybean Oil:
Net sales of 13,000 MT for delivery in 2009/10 were down 29 percent from the previous week and 20 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Peru (21,700 MT, including 20,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), the Dominican Republic (11,200 MT, including 11,000 MT switched from unknown destinations), and Guatemala (8,000 MT, switched from unknown destinations). Decreases were reported for unknown destinations (39,000 MT). Net sales of 800 MT for delivery in 2010/11 were for Mexico. Exports of 40,300 MT were up 17 percent from the previous week, but down 13 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Peru (20,000 MT), Cuba (7,600 MT), Nicaragua (6,400 MT), and Mexico (3,100 MT).

Cotton:
Net Upland sales of 86,200 running bales for delivery in 2009/10 were down 67 percent from the previous week and 46 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Turkey (29,600 RB), South Korea (11,000 RB, including 300 RB switched from Thailand), Bangladesh (10,700 RB), and Taiwan (9,500 RB). Decreases were reported for Argentina (3,600 RB), El Salvador (1,300 RB), and Vietnam (1,200 RB). Net sales of 26,600 RB for delivery in 2010/11 were for Brazil (17,600 RB), Turkey (4,400 RB), Bangladesh (4,000 RB), and Mexico (500 RB). Exports for own account were reported for China (10,400 RB). Exports of 297,200 RB were up 4 percent from the previous week and 5 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (112,000 RB), Turkey (53,700 RB), Mexico (35,200 RB), Indonesia (19,100 RB), and Taiwan (12,200 RB). Net American Pima sales of 9,200 RB were down 38 percent from the previous week and 30 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were primarily for China (4,400 RB), Thailand (1,900 RB, including 200 RB switched from Japan), and Pakistan (1,300 RB). Decreases were reported for Egypt (1,100 RB). Net sales of 6,400 RB for delivery in 2010/11 were for Japan (4,000 RB), Egypt (1,300 RB), and Mexico (1,100 RB). Exports of 11,500 RB were down 26 percent from the previous week, but up 14 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (3,100 RB), India (2,500 RB), Germany (2,000 RB), and Pakistan (1,700 RB).

Hides and Skins:
Net sales of 431,200 pieces were reported for delivery in 2010, down 9 percent from the previous week, but up 4 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were China (186,800 pieces), South Korea (83,000 pieces), Hong Kong (48,000 pieces, including 20,000 pieces switched from China), Taiwan (39,200 pieces), and Mexico (17,000 pieces). Exports of 435,700 pieces were down 6 percent from the previous week and 4 percent from the prior 4-week average. Whole cattle hide exports of 421,800 pieces were primarily to China (228,200 pieces), South Korea (98,000 pieces), Taiwan (45,500 pieces), Mexico (13,400 pieces), Italy (12,000 pieces), and Vietnam (7,900 pieces).

Net sales of 262,200 wet blues for delivery in 2010 were up noticeably from the previous week and the prior 4-week average. The primary buyers were China (91,800 unsplit), Italy (55,700 unsplit and 10,800 grain splits), Mexico (18,600 grain splits and 18,500 unsplit), and the Dominican Republic (26,400 unsplit). Decreases were reported for Japan (1,100 grain splits). Exports of 161,900 hides were primarily for China (61,200 unsplit), Italy (35,600 unsplit), Mexico (16,700 grain splits and 4,100 unsplit), and Taiwan (15,100 unsplit). Net sales of splits totaling 251,600 pounds resulted as increases for China (577,400 pounds) were more than offset by decreases for Hong Kong (318,600 pounds), South Korea (4,100 pounds), Italy (2,700 pounds) and Taiwan (500 pounds). Exports of 161,900 pounds were for China (597,800 pounds) and Hong Kong (136,100 pounds).

Beef:
Net sales of 14,100 MT were up 9 percent from the previous week and 40 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Russia (3,500 MT), Mexico (3,300 MT), Japan (2,800 MT), South Korea (2,000 MT), and Canada (900 MT). Exports of 9,600 MT were primary for Mexico (2,800 MT), South Korea (1,200 MT), Canada (1,200 MT), Japan (1,100 MT), and Vietnam (1,100 MT).
